Trials are instanced duties where players fight together against primarily a single boss enemy. These multi-phase boss encounters are usually more involved than those encountered in a dungeon and feature powerful creatures such as primals or major story antagonists. Many trials have supporting enemies (adds) that the boss summons at a certain point, and a few trials are split into two encounters with a checkpoint in between. When the boss is defeated, players are rewarded with story progression, tokens or rare items. Note that in FFXIV Mobile, all Trials require a full party of 8.
